With the amount of money (which is supposedly in short supply) being squandered on G20 Conference, NATO Conference, EU, and any other excuse for a beano, the politicians are seemingly immune to any such economy - not to mention the carbon foortprint left by President O and his entourage of 500 !!

Let's just hope that with all the talk - we see some action and some activity in the market.

Nevertheless I am a realist and recognise that Spain is going to have a hard struggle to get back in the game as there is a mountain of unsold property - mainly cheapish residential, and mainly in major cities of mainland Spain. Hence the saying " The financial pain in Spain falls mainly on the main land" (Sorry - but could not make it rhyme)

Did no one see the crisis coming?

The Bank of England pension fund sold all their equities in 2006. They are now 71% invested in index linked stocks!!!

Most agents I have spoken to recently are reporting an increase in activity in the property market although generally speaking the clients are looking not buying.

I am still surpirsed that more UK owners have not adjusted their Euro asking price to reflect the substantial increase in the number of pounds they will receive. However one of more optimistic owners has reduced his price by 25% and told me that he will not be making a loss - just less profit!. This is probably the case in many instances - and a sensible philosphy.

Whilst the weather has not been up to normal standard, it is fair to say that the weather forecasters do seem to be able to make fairly accurate predictions so well worth checking if you are "popping over here" for a few days at short notice.

Nevertheless we have just had three weeks of excellent sunshine although last week was once again rather more English ! But - SUMMER is definitely on the way !!

In several cases of our clients who have recently listed their properties with us we have discovered that there is some irregularity with the Property Register or the Planning Authority. In most cases this is just a matter of procedure and we offer our services to tackle these problems. It is vitally important these days that all the "I"s are dotted and the "T"s are crossed before one gets to the Notary with a buyer and discover an irregularity which prevents completion or financing.

In some cases extensions have been made years ago without permission - we can help with these by getting a dated photo from an Authorised source such as ESTOP and processing the appropriate documentation.

In summary - the Notaries and Lawyers used to be more flexible in terms of detail but understandably are now having to follow the Letter of the Law.
